Luca’s case illustrates the paradox of an adaptation that masks a complex relational void. Although the Author employs cognitive (Schema Therapy) and trauma-informed (Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment; TIST) lenses, a psychoanalytic-relational reading allows the symptomatology to be understood not only as a malfunction of the defensive system, but as the eruption of a non-integrated Self, whose roots lie in the very earliest relational exchanges with primary caregivers.
