Starting from the stance favorable to private monopolies expressed by Leoni in 1965, this work attempts to reconstruct his intellectual, economic and political progeny. In particular, Leoni isn’t interpreted here only as an inspirer of the later neoliberalism or libertarianism at the service of financial capitalism: a stance which remains in the groove of the liberal conception of the State as a necessary evil. Rather, Leoni is interpreted as a precursor of the Rothbard’s populist anarcho-capitalism, victorious in the Donald Trump’s era: a stance, this, which pushes its theological anti-statism as far as the definitive dismantling of the State.
